Many contracts of life insurance unclaimed recovered their beneficiaries. New features introduced in recent years have indeed enabled recipients who are unaware of contracts to recover some 555 million euros since 2006, according to a report that the economy minister, Christine Lagarde, s' prepares to submit to Parliament with Le Parisien and Aujourd'hui en France, reveals the contents on Thursday.

Since 2003, the government seeks to reduce the number of unclaimed contracts, estimated at over 150,000. In March 2009, a new measure has allowed insurers and bankers to verify in a national register if their customers were still alive.Since then, 26,000 dead have been identified, according to the report.

Another 1 billion euros in assets not redistributed

Insurers détiennnent however always more than one billion euros not distributed to beneficiaries of contracts unclaimed. This amount, established by a survey of the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA) cited in the report, is higher than the estimates of insurers (between 700 and 800 million euros).

A bill proposed by Senator Hervé Maurey, which will be considered by Members before the end of the year, provides for mandatory publication of contracts in unclaimed accounts of insurers. Supported by the Government, this could still contribute to limiting the amounts held by insurance companies to the detriment of beneficiaries.

Preferred placement of French, the market for life insurance grew by 8% since January 2010.

Slight rebound on Wall Street. The U.S. equity market, which started on a decline of 0.29%, below 10,000 points, find the path to higher with a gain of 0.44% at 10,054 points. The Nasqad is 0.23% at 2125 points while the S & P climbed 0.23% to 1051 points.

This reversal follows the announcement of an increase in U.S. consumer sentiment in August after two months of decline. Index of employer organization the Conference Board stood at 53.5 in August against 51.0 (revised from 50.4) in July. Analysts were waiting to 50.5.

Before that, the S & P / Case-Shiller home price for June was released Tuesday. Conclusion: the price of single family houses has increased more than expected thanks to the positive effects of a tax credit that expired in April. The index came out at 0.3% in seasonally adjusted data, against an increase of 0.5% in May and 0.2% expected by economists.

Both plublications can erase some of the fears surrounding the publication Friday, employment figures for the month of August in the United States.

Doubts about the strength of the recovery

Doubts, however, should persist. Obama announced his economic advisers to work with new measures to support economic activity. He spoke of targeted measures, such as the extension of tax breaks for middle class matures, increasing public funding for the development of clean energy, infrastructure works or new tax cuts aimed "to encourage businesses to work their capital to create jobs here in the United States.

"This announcement is far from reassured investors, due to lack of accuracy and because investors doubt the effectiveness of proposed measures, analysts said Aurel BCG.

Semiconductors follow

As for values, the semiconductor industry will be watching: the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced that worldwide sales of semiconductors rose 1.2% in July compared to June. The association has confirmed its forecast of growth of 28.4% of the market for semiconductors throughout the year.

A follow HP (-1.22% to 38.09 euros) was the only value in the green yesterday (+1.5%). In addition to its attempt to acquire 3PAR, the leader in PC sales has announced a new plan to repurchase its shares.

The Financial Crisis Enquiry Commission (Commission of Inquiry on the financial crisis), tasked with finding the causes of the financial crisis, will listen to Ben Bernanke, Fed chairman, Fuld (former boss of Lehman Brothers) and Steel (ex-boss Wachovia) and Sheila Bair (FDIC Director) on the concept of "Too Big To Fail".

3M (-0.51% to 79.24 euros) yesterday announced the acquisition of Cogent (-0.18% to 11.07 euros) for 943 million dollars. The group's management warns that this will reduce its earnings per share cents from September to October in the 12 months following the settlement of the transaction.

According to the latest figures published by the Centre for Documentation and Information Assurance, 500,000 people each year in France are victims of dog bites. And 60,000 cases require hospitalization. There is no data in France for the financial evaluation of these accidents. The U.S. comes in contrast to publish figures. In 2009, 4.7 million dog bites have cost 412 million dollars to U.S. insurers. A sales up 6.4% compared to 2008. On average, a complaint involves the payment of $ 24,000 to the victim. Swiss insurers were also interested in the costs of the bites. Nearly 10,000 people are attacked each year, and the invoice amount to 3.3 million Swiss francs per year (about 2.5 million euros) for insurers. The vast majority of dogs live happily without causing an accident, the teacher must still ensure ensure their pets to avoid disappointment. French law provides that the person having custody of an animal's owner or a person to whom it was entrusted for a long time – is responsible for damage that it causes.

Residential Property and Casualty

Most dogs can be insured under the "liability" with the contract signed comprehensive home for the accommodation of their owners. It is nevertheless necessary to learn about the extent of the guarantee. Some insurers do not cover all the damages and provide for the retention of a franchise.

In addition, this type of insurance that takes into account the damage caused by dogs to others (people being run down, bites, car damaged when it struck …) If the damage takes place at the home of the owner, only insurance including a comprehensive coverage will pay for furniture. Furthermore, companies may make the acceptance of the contract to different criteria. The age of the dog is particularly taken into account. If the animal has never been satisfactorily and has over ten years, the coverage may be denied. But other features can also complicate the underwriting of insurance, such as whether the dog is used as part of an occupation, size or race.

The category of dog

Many news items in recent years have indeed tightened regulations. Three pieces of legislation have established a classification of animals known as "dangerous." Several breeds have been grouped into two categories: the dog considered "attacking" (Tier 1) those of "custody or defense '(category 2). However, the law requires owners to purchase liability insurance for such animals. If the contract owner's insurance does not cover these risks, most companies offer the added option by paying an additional fee.If this is not the case, the owner will change insurers and take out insurance with another company that offers this option because it can not be purchased independently of a housing contract.

Finally, we must know that all these contracts do not cover the costs of care for injuries suffered by the animal. This will require specific health insurance, whose coverage is also more or less extended from reimbursement of veterinary consultations, to support operations or vaccine in France only 2% of the animals have health insurance, against 80% in Sweden.

All their work to redress the country's disastrous finances, the Greek authorities track down tax evaders peeling including all expenses of pension funds. And make strange discoveries.

They are for example reported that 321 people died continued to receive their pension post-mortem. "We discovered that retirement was paid to a person who died in 1999 and documented cases of pensions paid to people who died there are five or seven years," said Vice-Minister of Labour, George Koutroumanis.

If the Ministry of Labour is still not known how many pensioners in the country, he counted at least 8,500 of them who receive a monthly pension when they are between 100 and 110 years. Strange, in a country that in 2008 there were only 2,665 centenarians, according to official figures.

"How could they have tripled in just two years?" Surprised an advisor to the Minister. Intrigued, the government will push his investigation by checking the status of 20,000 people over 95 years here in October. He then moved quickly to tackle the 30,000 Greeks receiving a disability pension might be unwarranted. With probably more surprises in perspective.

"It seems that the worst is behind us," said Paul Roll, director general of the Office of Tourism and Congress of Paris. First city in the world in number of international arrivals, Paris has not been spared by the economic crisis. Even if the impact was less marked than in other cities, tourist numbers dropped by 4.2% in 2009.

But the trend has reversed in the first six months of 2010 to revive the pre-crisis levels. The number of overnight stays in hotels increased by 7.3% from a year earlier to return to 2007 levels. The revenue per available room, the main indicator of hoteliers, is also up 8%. The hotel occupancy rate of around 7.3%, is lowered into the red (about -1%) in the month of April due to the eruption of the volcano in Iceland.

For Paul Roll, "it is in a recovery phase but we do not yet know the speed of this recovery."The euro-dollar in favor of the Americans, the positive image of the French capital abroad and modernizing the Parisian hotels are among the reasons that the director of the Tourist Office in advance to explain this rebound.

France and the countries emerging as drivers of tourism in Paris

Where are these so tourists who come to deposit their luggage in Paris? In 2009, 45.3% were French, an ever-increasing share for fifteen years. And the trend continues this year: the first six months, the arrival of French tourists increased 12% to 3.7 million.

Behind them, the emerging countries pull themselves into second place. From China, Asia, South East, India, Russia, Brazil or the Middle East, these visitors accounted for 27% of tourists to Paris in 2009. Their arrivals were still up 11% over the first six months of 2010.A surprise this semester: The number of tourists increased by 29.8% African to reach an unprecedented level.

Another record, the business tourism peaked at more than 8 million hotel nights. "It's a real return of business travelers who greatly contributed to the increase in tourism this semester," says Thomas Deschamps, head of the statistical observation to the Paris Tourist Office.

The Americans returned?

First foreign market tourism in Paris, the U.S. would return. American tourists had indeed been the first to be less numerous in Paris, even before the outbreak of the subprime crisis in the summer of 2007. Since then, their presence has steadily declined. Despite a slight recovery in September 2009, the Americans remain in attendance decline between January and July 2010.

However, the tourist office suggests very good signs lately that show that Americans are more numerous in the second half. "The reason we lack," says Paul Roll, but it's very good news for the future. Americans have always had a very good picture of Paris, a city readily associated with love and culture. And want to show the Google advertising aired during the Super Bowl, the championship of American football that is the most watched sporting event in the United States.

Uncertainties in the second half

For the second half of the year, "the Paris are open," says Paul Roll. The Office of Tourism expects an overall increase in hotel stays 6%, "a very good performance" according to its director, but acknowledges that uncertainties remain. Thus, Muslim tourists will probably be less this year to present a question of timing, Ramadan taking place in August.

Especially, the economic recovery remains fragile. Coming from countries affected by the crisis, the British, the second most foreigners visiting Paris, and the Italians and the Dutch should be fewer in the second half.

Jean-Bernard Bros, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of tourism, an active policy of the city is necessary to preserve and enhance the attractiveness of Paris. Speaking as the "successful Paris Plage, an event which" gives the international image of a city that offers visitors, "Jean-Bernard Bros said that the city of Paris is planning to extend the waterfront development are on both sides of the Seine. "It is all up and it must ensure that it remains" says Paul Bros.

While the European equity markets are struggling. But the values related to the construction sector underperforming the broad market on Tuesday. In case, a warning from the Irish group CRH: the largest producer of asphalt in the United States said it expected eventually to a 10% drop in profits for the year 2010 due to the fragility of the U.S. economic recovery.

Obviously, the penalty was not built until the stock market: shares tumble 16% HRA on the square in Dublin at the end. And in its wake, Saint-Gobain and Lafarge, respectively dropping 4.71% and 4.35% at the close on Tuesday and position themselves behind the curve on the CAC 40. Bouygues sold him, 3.26%. In Switzerland, Holcim coward 1.69%, while the pan-European Stoxx 600 index sector yield 4.2%.

Tough competition

Myles Lee, the CEO of HRA, said that the performance of the U.S. economy are "not good", but anticipate relapse into recession. "The economic news from the United States are disappointing and below expectations. It now seems clear that the economic recovery there, even if it occurs, will not be as strong than expected, "he said on Irish TV channel RTE.

Its chief financial officer, Albert Manifold, said his side as the weakness of the commercial construction activity and delayed investments of state and local governments in the United States had generated sales below expectations July and August, usually two months porters.

In addition, pressure on margins is increasing, so that several competitors are trying to reduce their prices, "said HRC.

Commodity prices and budgetary discipline

Harry Sebag, an analyst at Saxo Bank, explains that "businesses have impacted their margins and cut prices to gain market share." Already weakened, companies are also facing the weaker euro and higher commodity prices, driven by demand from emerging countries, which darken the outlook for the sector. Fiscal rectitude who moved to Europe and hence lower investment in construction, does shoved a bit more nail.

For the construction specialist in Europe, Euroconstruct, the sector should not resume until 2012.Particularly affected by the gloomy atmosphere, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal.

In France, since the beginning of the year, Lafarge has won over 37% in stock, Saint-Gobain, 24%, French Cement declined 19%, Vinci, Bouygues 14% and 12%.

A monitor, tomorrow, Wednesday, sales of new homes in the United States, which fall in the afternoon. On Tuesday, the bad news on the front sales of existing homes of great concern.

Reduce Employee Holiday: here is the solution proposed by German employers to offset the lack of labor in small and medium enterprises. "We must reduce our gains and build only four weeks of leave if we are to sustain growth," today called Ursula Frerichs, president of the Association of SMEs in the daily Bild.

After a difficult 2009, German growth should reach 3% this year according to estimates by the Bundesbank. For manufacturers, the challenge now is to keep the pace of recovery: "The order books are full again and we need everybody," is justified Mario Ohoven, president of the Federation of medium-sized enterprises, which calls for a limit, at least temporarily, in five weeks instead of six holidays for employees.

Use immigration

The issue of skilled labor is beginning to give cold sweats to employers. The industry is already in need of youth: 15,000 training places have been filled at the eve of the return. A McKinsey study of the agency pulled the alarm earlier this year: if companies do not focus now on the recruitment and training, they will not find 2 million people they will need in 2020. For Germany Older: quarter of the population over 60 years, they will be 37% in ten years.Companies are beginning to adapt. At BMW, we test an assembly adapted to seniors, to allow workers to work until age 67. Europe has even called for postponing the retirement age to 70 years to compensate for the lack of young people.

Another much-discussed solution: the use of immigration. The Minister of Economy Liberal Rainer Brüderl, discussed the opening of borders for skilled foreigners, which is not palatable to the conservatives. But reality is cruel: Germany has already lost the people. "An aging population less innovative, it must get used to the idea that Germany will never be as rich as before," says demographer Steffen Krohnert. The only good news: Germany could briefly about the return of full employment before 2020 if it maintains its growth by then.

They will give half of what they have. Nearly 40 American billionaires have pledged to donate over 50% of their fortune to charity. The initiative, called "Giving Pledge" ("Pledge"), was launched in mid-June by Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, and Warren Buffet, the richest man in America. "We just started the operation and we already have tremendous returns," enthuses the latter, which the Americans nicknamed the sage of Omaha.

The director George Lucas, CNN founder Ted Turner, the New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, co-founder Larry Ellison's Oracle (also the highest paid boss in the world) are among the generous donors. "I'm not a big fan of the legacy," says his side T. Boone Pickens, chairman of oil group BP."It usually generates more harm than good No fax payday advance. "

"Operation Giving Pledge aims to solve the pressing problems of society by inviting the rich American families to commit to more than half of their fortune to philanthropy and charity", is it explained in a release. It is a moral commitment, not a legal contract, is it explained. The total amount promised is not specified.

"We have more money that our family will ever need, evidenced by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife, Pam, in a letter."There is no reason to keep it in a box so it can be useful today to tackle the worst problems of our time." For his part, Buffett had said he would give 99 % of its wealth (more than 47 billion dollars) to charity.

After the industry, it's time for banks to disclose their account. One of the first major French banks – the first having been the group CM5-CIC – to publish its interim accounts, BNP release Monday before market accounts for the second quarter. The net profit exceeds 2 billion euros to 2.105 billion an increase of over 31%. This is clearly beyond expectations since analysts polled by Reuters had expected the outcome to 1.7 billion. At the same time, the net banking appears up 11.8% to 11.17 billion.

The main reason for this marked improvement from a sharper than expected decline in provisions for bad debts. Good news for the business which enables it to offset declining revenues from its business markets. His provisions for risk of loss on credit and have declined from 53.9% to 1.08 billion euros.

In a statement, BNP Paribas said to be "ahead" on its program of synergies from the integration of the Belgian bank Fortis acquired last year, with 402 million euros of synergies on a target of 900 million.

Good performance of the retail banking

In corporate finance and investment, the decline in profit before tax is also less than expected at 16.4% in the second quarter against 20% expected by the market. But the bank sees its retail profit before tax more than doubled.A good place to France, Italy and the Benelux countries plus the recovery in Europe and the Mediterranean area and the U.S. subsidiary BancWest Payday Loan for Bad Credit.

Another source of profit growth comes from the pole Investment Solutions, which includes asset management, private banking, insurance and securities businesses. He took advantage of the favorable momentum of insurance as well as higher costs lower than revenues.

The second quarter 2010 was also marked by a "very unfavorable market environment, characterized by extreme volatility and less liquidity fueled by worries of some investors on European assets," said BNP Paribas.

Earnings in the first half increased 38.8% to 4.39 billion

For the entire first half, the Group's net banking income amounted to 22.704 billion euros, up 16.6% over the first half of 2009. At constant exchange rates, revenues were stable (+0.2%) over the same period. Good cost control management (-1.4%) enables the gross operating profit to grow by +2.3% to $ 9.694 billion. With the sharp decline in the cost of risk, down by almost half over the first half of 2009, net income group share falls to 4.39 billion euros, up by 38.8% the first half of 2009. Thus, half-year net earnings per common share amounted to 3.6 euros (+25% compared to first half 2009).
