Senior executives of private broadcasting, Nonce Paolini TF1, Canal + Bertrand Meheut, Nicolas de Tavernost for M6, RTL Christopher Baldelli, Jean-Paul Baudecroux for NRJ Group, Alain Weill for Next RadioTV and Gilles Cremilleux for strings local, sent a letter to Nicolas Sarkozy to urge him to lead the reform of France Television to the end, culminating with the total suppression of advertising before 20 hours.

A provision is being challenged by the UMP, which created a commission to examine the appropriateness of retaining the advertising day at a time of fiscal crisis. A position to which Nicolas Sarkozy is ready to rally.
