Catering. Consultancy. Cleaning. Tutoring at home. Services have emerged as one of the engines of the French economy. They represent 57% of GDP. They employed 8.9 million people or 34.4% of total employment in 2008 against 22% in 1978. They are the only sector posting positive growth last year.
"Service firms create more jobs than the industry and offer real skilled jobs.
